I enjoyed reading the text Teaching Digital Natives by Marc Prensky. I believe this book was very informative and interesting. The introduction gets the reader to think about how the world is changing and how education should be changing with it. Throughout the book the reader is introduced to the idea of practicing partnering in the classroom. The book gives ideas, tips, and opinions on partnering in education. It covers how one can transform from traditional teaching methods to partnering as well as ways to improve partnering along the way. This book also gave many resources one can use in the classroom. It also talked about how to incorporate technology in the classroom and tools one can use. I think this book gave a great overview on the benefits of the partnering pedagogy. I liked how there were many places where students had voice their opinions on a certain topic. I think many of these practices can be used and be successful in the classroom. The most important thing I learned while reading the book is the importance of students’ opinions. What will I take away from this book? I will make sure I set up in my classroom in a way that the students and I can collaborate with one another. I will make sure to ask my students to voice their opinion. I will make sure I do less telling and more asking. I will be sure to encourage students to use the resources that are available. I will make sure to try an incorporate the students’ passions and interests. Most of all I will make learning real! I recommend this book to anyone whose wanting to use partnering in his or her classroom.
