Classroom Positive Behavior Management Plan
My positive behavior plan will include the use of ClassDojo. It is a free tech tool for behavior management. ClassDojo is designed to help teachers improve student behavior and communicate more effectively with parents. Each student is assigned a profile with their own avatar to which teachers can assign positive and negative points. The teacher can set up behaviors to track. For example if the student participates, helps others, uses creativity, works hard or stays on task the teacher can add a point under which behavior they displayed. If the students disrupts, is late, does not turn in homework, disrespects, interrupts, or is out of their seat they will loose a point by clicking on the misbehavior they displayed. This behavior management system allows students to loose and earn points during the same day. I feel that this provides students a way to "make-up" for their mistakes and get back in the right track without having the whole day ruined. When students are able to earn points for positive behavior they are more motivated to do so.
With the ClassDojo application, I can send reports to the parents to inform them of their child’s behavior. At the end of every week I will send home a printed report of the students behavior. For students who have negative points at the end of the week, their parent will sign and return the report. ClassDojo also always me to see when or how a student is most likely to misbehave. This will give me an opportunity to eliminate the triggers of misbehavior.
Students who reach 30 points by the end of the week, will get to get a price from of the treasure box. I will also have an avatar that is titled Brownie Points. The class will earn points if we are complimented in the hallway, the lunchroom, at P.E., art, library, or music. When the class’s brownie points avatar reaches 10 Dojo points the Brownie Fairy will pay a visit to the classroom!! (For the students who may not be able to have brownies, there will be something set aside for them.)
